Inspiration:
This original watercolor “American Kestrel Visit” is 1 of 2 watercolor paintings inspired by a scene I came upon in my backyard. After a light rain in July, I spotted an American Kestrel taking a nap on top of our backyard birdhouse. I snuck around the corner and took photos while it posed for me. After a few minutes it spread its wings and flew off (see American Kestrel Giclée Print). Using my photographs and memory of the moment, I sketched and painted this American Kestrel’s visit on the birdhouse posing for me against the willow tree background.
